Naropa University seeks applications for a Student Financial Services Counselor.
The primary function is to assist students and families in applying for financial aid and financial planning to enhance the recruitment and retention of a diverse student body. This position is the primary contact for current and prospective students requesting information or needing help with the student financial planning process. Job Duties: • Act as a primary contact for all walk-in traffic requesting financial aid and payment plan information. • Act as initial point of contact for prospective and current students regarding VA Education Benefits. • Respond to phone and email inquiries from current and prospective students. • Counsel students regarding financial aid, scholarships, VA Education benefits, budgeting, payment plans, and loan repayment options. • Coordinate online forms of communication and mailings from the Student Financial Services office. • Outreach current and prospective students regarding missing documentation and other aid related issues. • Complete data entry and tracking of Student Financial Services related documents. • Coordinate and track appeals for additional financial aid. • Assist with VA enrollment certification. • Assist with tuition payment and payment plan processing. • Create and track third party billing invoices and Purchase Orders. • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all federal and institutional policies and procedures related to Student Financial Services. • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Student Information System and Student Portal. • Communicate clearly with team and other offices. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent proven customer service skills • Attention to detail • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team Preferred Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree in any field • 1 – 2 years experience in financial aid • Experience working in a Student Information System • Some accounting or cash management experience Applications: Application review continues until position is filled.
