Job Description
The Financial Aid Department at Red Rocks Community College is seeking candidates with excellent customer service and experience processing student data in a higher education setting. As the Financial Aid Processing Advisor, you will play a vital role in facilitating access to higher education by managing the processing of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid for eligible students. This position ensures compliance with the regulations and guidelines of each funding source, overseeing a specific area of financial aid processing (R2T4) and serves as backup for other areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (can substitute for relevant work experience). Demonstrated student record processing experience in a higher education setting
- Two years of experience with online student information systems.
- Two years of experience in student relations.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
- Must be willing to travel to the Arvada Campus as needed.
Responsibilities
The position involves processing federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid for eligible students to enable them to access higher education. Each program must be administered using the rules, regulations, and guidelines of each funding source. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing a specific area of financial aid processing and is competent to serve as backup for another area of financial aid processing when needed. Manages one or more specialized areas of financial aid processing (Loans, SAP, Scholarships, R2T4, Dataload). Advises students, families, and community members on higher education funding options in person, over the phone, and via email. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations in order to review financial aid applications for accuracy. Exercises professional judgment and processes necessary corrections. Processes student documents for a section of the alphabet, determines student financial aid eligibility, and authorizes awards from federal, state, institutional, and private programs in compliance with all rules, regulations, and guidelines. Revises awards as individual circumstances change. Serves as backup for another specialized area of financial aid processing on an as-needed basis. Provides excellent customer service while conveying information to current and prospective students and their families about the financial aid application process, eligibility requirements, available aid, and student rights and responsibilities, including outreach to local high schools, community organizations, and other RRCC departments.
