Job Description

The Financial Aid Department at Red Rocks Community College is seeking candidates who specialize in excellent customer service and financial aid. As the Financial Aid Processing Advisor, you will play a vital role in facilitating access to higher education by managing the processing of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid for eligible students. This position ensures compliance with the regulations and guidelines of each funding source, overseeing a specific area of financial aid processing (student loans) and serves as backup for other areas as needed. Responsibilities include: Manages student loan processing while providing frontline assistance to students, families, and community members on funding options for higher education. Provides exceptional customer service by informing students and families about the application process, eligibility criteria, available aid, and student rights and responsibilities. Outreach efforts extend to local high schools, community organizations, and other RRCC departments. Collaborates with the Director and Associate Director to develop and implement automated processes for financial aid programs, and assists in creating or modifying office procedures, handbooks, brochures, and manuals. Active participation in committees at the Colorado Community College System office is key for system-wide process improvement. This includes staying updated on regulations by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as serving on campus committees. Contributes to the guidance, supervision, and training of student employees and full-time staff within the Financial Aid team, fostering a supportive team environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus). – Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service and the ability to logically analyze data. – Thorough knowledge of computerized financial aid processing and records system management. – Strong interpersonal skills. – Knowledge of basic math and counseling skills. Required Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. A combination of education and directly related technical/professional work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Years of experience is in addition to any required years of experience for the position. Part time experience will be prorated. – Demonstrated student financial aid experience in a higher education setting. – Demonstrated experience with online student information systems. – Relevant experience in student relations. – Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
