Community College of Aurora seeks applications for a Financial Aid Scholarship Advisor.
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY This position is the primary contact for current and prospective students requesting information or help with the CCA scholarship and financial aid process. This position will work closely with other scholarship staff and financial aid staff and advise current and prospective students regarding scholarships and financial aid programs and eligibility, and proactively assist with resolving student issues. Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all general federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures related to financial aid. • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of CCA foundation scholarships, CCA institution scholarships, and third-party scholarships • Work with other school personnel to obtain resources for students. • Assist current students with identifying and applying for campus and external scholarships through the scholarship management system (Academic Works). • Serve as contact for all walk-in traffic requesting financial aid or scholarship information. • Advise current students in person, virtually, over the phone, and through email regarding CCA’s scholarship opportunities, processes, deadlines, requirements, and appeal processes. • Assist resolve financial aid student issues by analyzing financial data, consulting with other staff in the Financial Aid Office, and other agencies, and counseling the student. • Assist daily front counter operations, procedures, and coverage. • Prepare and deliver written, recorded, and live trainings, workshops, and presentations to support students through all stages of scholarship search and application processes. • Work collaboratively with financial aid office and foundation office to facilitate the awarding of scholarships through the scholarship management system (Academic Works). • Provide training and technical support for CCA faculty and staff working with the scholarship management system (Academic Works). • Serve as a member of the Academic Works Implementation workgroup. • Coordinate the scholarship review and selection processes with scholarship management system (Academic Works). • Develop professionally by reading and attending professional conferences, workshops and webinars. • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid Advising. Minimum qualifications & Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR relevant work experience on a year for year basis. • Minimum of one year of financial aid or scholarship work experience in higher education. • Effective oral and written communication skills. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Customer Service experience • Sound management skills and effective decision-making. • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.

This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave. Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) qualified employer.
