Community College of Denver seeks applications for a Financial Aid Loan Coordinator.
The Financial Aid Advisor/Loan Coordinator is responsible for processing all loans from origination to disbursement, including Federal Direct Stafford, private and PLUS loans, and serves as a liaison with the Direct Lending Program. The position also serves as a team member among the Community Colleges of Colorado System Loan Coordinators in the implementation and training of new or changing loan procedures. This is a high volume processing position which requires a high degree of mastery of complex regulations. In addition, this person will routinely communicate these policies to both students and parents. The Financial Aid Advisor/Loan Coordinator is also responsible for various other duties including the routine processing of transfer monitoring files, reporting and tracking of loans, the review of disbursement error reports, etc. Duties and Responsibilities The Financial Aid Advisor/Loan Coordinator is primarily responsible for all aspects of loan processing from origination to disbursement. This requires the Loan Coordinator to maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies regarding all types of financial aid (i.e. Pell Grant, Colorado Student Grant, Stafford Loans, etc.) and possess an advanced knowledge of SCT Banner financial aid software with the ability to resolve data integrity issues and discrepancies within the system. The Loan Coordinator also packages financial aid awards based on needs-analysis, federal regulations, cost of attendance, and institutional budgets; and advises both students and parents of the various aspects of financial aid (i.e. application procedures, verification documentation, scholarship and grant guidelines, federal and private loan conditions, Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, etc.). In addition, the Loan Coordinator utilizes Banner and other software for reporting and reconciliation with Fiscal. This position also collaborates with other offices and outside agencies, and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or three (3) years of experience in financial aid. Experience: Two (2) years of financial aid experience. Three (3) years of customer service experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong commitment to quality customer service. Strong oral and written communication. Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to plan, both long and short range, for complex overlapping fiscal years. Ability to work nights and weekends during peak periods. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Experience in a financial aid office processing loans. Experience with Banner, and web based financial aid software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
