Platt College seeks applications for a Director of Financial Aid

Job Description

Responsibilities: This individual will be responsible for operational functions of the Student Financial Aid including but not limited to: overseeing application processing system, managing federal, state & institutional financial aid programs, meeting needs of the annual audit, and providing leadership and guidance to the financial aid officer; coordinates electronic reporting, data management, and ensures compliance. Position reports to the Vice President of the College. Skills and Qualifications of the position include: Program Management: Manages all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs Oversees contractual agreement programs. Ensures compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and institutional rules and guidelines. Prepares reports. Meets all program-mandated deadlines and works with the yearly audit. Compliance: Coordinates and oversees initiatives to ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional rules and regulations. Research issues for compliance to regulations. Informs and updates financial aid staff of announcements from the U.S. Department of Education to maintain compliance. Reporting Functions: Serves as liaison with Finance Services Department in reporting and requesting batched federal funds. Manages monthly reconciliation of disbursements through COD reports with Financial Services Department. Other Duties: Participates in on-going professional development activities, oversees the Financial Aid Officer, helps to administers college financial aid policies, office procedures and funding programs. Additional Qualifications Requirements: Knowledge of federal, state, institutional and local sources of financial aid. Knowledge of finance, accounting, and management and computer services. Knowledge of institutional organization, policies, procedures, and administrative practices generally used in higher education. Knowledge of federal regulations and new developments in Title IV programs. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff members. Two years of direct experience in the delivery of need & merit-based federal, state, private & institutional financial A proven record in working successfully with diverse populations Bachelor’s degree required.
